Insta360 X6 Flagship 8K 360 Camera

The Insta360 X6 is a flagship 8K 360 camera designed for creators, travellers, action sports and anyone who wants to capture everything around them without worrying about framing the shot in the moment. Its dual custom Sony sensors deliver 1-inch-equivalent 360 imaging, giving X6 improved light capture, dynamic range and image detail for both daytime and low-light shooting.

Record immersive 8K50fps 360 video, then choose the best angle later using Insta360's reframing tools. For still photography, X6 captures up to 120MP 360 photos, while Single-Lens Mode lets you use the camera more like a traditional action camera with up to 5K60fps video.

Capture First, Frame Later

One of the biggest advantages of the Insta360 X6 is the freedom of 360 capture. Instead of pointing the camera in one direction, X6 records the entire scene around you, allowing you to select your composition afterwards.

This makes it especially useful for travel, skiing, snowboarding, cycling, motorcycling, vlogging and other situations where the action moves too quickly to constantly reframe your camera. Pair X6 with an Invisible Selfie Stick and the stick can be automatically removed from 360 footage, creating floating-camera and third-person perspectives that would normally require a second camera operator.

Flagship 8K 360 Image Quality

X6 records native 8K50fps 360 video, giving creators more resolution to work with when reframing footage into traditional horizontal or vertical videos.

Its dual Sony custom sensors provide an imaging area equivalent to a 1-inch sensor for 360 capture. Insta360 also uses a triple-chip processing system consisting of a Qualcomm 4nm flagship chip and two dedicated AI imaging chips to handle image processing, stitching and noise reduction.

For challenging lighting conditions, PureVideo Mode is designed to improve low-light footage, while AdaptiveTone 2.0 independently meters both lenses to preserve more highlight and shadow detail across the full 360 scene.

120MP 360 Photography

For high-resolution stills, the Insta360 X6 captures up to 120MP 360 photos. This gives you significantly more detail for immersive photography, virtual tours, landscapes and reframed still images.

Single-lens photography is also available when you want to use X6 more like a conventional wide-angle camera.

5K60fps & 4K120fps Flat Video

Use It as an Action Camera

The X6 is not limited to 360 video. Single-Lens Mode lets you shoot traditional flat video at up to 5K60fps, with ultra-wide viewing angles available depending on the selected frame rate and mode.

This makes X6 suitable for users who want both a 360 camera and an action camera in one device rather than carrying separate cameras.

Smooth, Level Footage

Insta360's FlowState Stabilization helps smooth out vibration and camera movement during running, cycling, skiing and other action, while 360° Horizon Lock keeps footage level even when the camera rotates.

Because X6 captures every direction simultaneously, you can also change your angle after recording without physically repositioning the camera during the shot.

Improved Low-Light Performance

The larger sensor imaging area and triple-chip processing system make X6 particularly well suited to challenging lighting conditions. PureVideo Mode combines hardware and software processing to reduce noise and recover more detail from darker scenes such as city streets, night rides, campfires and starlapses.

X6 also supports 10-bit colour, providing greater colour information for creators who want more flexibility when grading footage in post-production.

Waterproof to 65ft (20m) Replaceable Lenses 2.0

Built for Action and Travel

The Insta360 X6 is waterproof to 20 metres / 66 feet without an external housing, making it suitable for rain, swimming and many water-based activities. For proper 360 underwater stitching at greater depths, Insta360 offers a dedicated Invisible Dive Case Pro.

The camera also features replaceable lenses, making damaged lenses easier to replace rather than requiring replacement of the entire camera.

Despite its imaging capabilities, X6 weighs only 196g, making it compact enough for travel, helmets, selfie sticks and action-camera mounting systems.

Longer Battery Life and Fast Charging

A removable 2600mAh Xtreme Battery provides up to approximately 140 minutes of recording at 8K30fps under Insta360's laboratory testing conditions.

For longer shoots, Endurance Mode can extend runtime to approximately 200 minutes at 6K24fps. With a compatible 30W PPS charger, the battery can reach approximately 80% charge in 24 minutes and 100% in around 35 minutes.

AI-Powered Editing

360 capture gives you enormous creative freedom, but it also creates more footage to sort through. Insta360's AI editing tools are designed to simplify this process by helping identify interesting moments and automatically generate shareable clips.

InstaFrame 2.0 can also create ready-to-share flat videos while retaining a 360 backup, giving creators a faster workflow for social media while still preserving the full scene for later reframing.

Who Is the Insta360 X6 For?

The Insta360 X6 is particularly well suited for:

  • Travel and adventure creators

  • Vloggers and social media creators

  • Skiing and snowboarding

  • Cycling and motorcycling

  • Hiking and outdoor activities

  • Third-person action shots

  • Virtual tours and immersive photography

  • Creators who want one camera for both 360 and traditional action footage

If you want maximum flexibility from a compact camera, the Insta360 X6 8K 360 camera lets you record the entire scene first and decide how to frame it afterwards, making it a powerful tool for travel, action and content creation.

Insta360 X6 features two Sony custom square 1/1.1" large sensors, 33% larger than those in the X5, delivering a major upgrade in image quality both day and night.

2. How is X6’s image quality? Is it noticeably better than X5?

X6’s sensor area is 33% larger than the previous-generation X5. Combined with a new AI triple-chip intelligent noise reduction system, X6 delivers noticeably better image quality than the X5 in both daytime and nighttime shooting, with stronger overall detail and clarity.

3. Is X6 compatible with X5 accessories?

X6 retains the same 1/4" mounting thread and magnetic quick-release interface as the X5, so it is compatible with most accessories that use a 1/4" mount or magnetic quick-release connection. A 9V/3A power adapter with PD support is recommended. It also supports 5V/3A power adapters.
