Description
The ML40Bi and ML40R fit in your palm. That's not marketing — it's genuinely the first thing you notice. At 97 × 46 × 91mm and about 422g, it disappears into a bag pocket and you stop thinking about whether to bring it.
Output on its own is modest, but snap on the ML-L10 Lens Reflector and things change fast. Godox rates it at up to 24× brighter than bare output on the Bi model (16× on the R). In practice, that means enough punch for outdoor fill or a tight interview setup without dragging out a bigger light.
Battery life is 42 minutes at full brightness, and it charges via USB-C at up to 60W while shooting. The BG02 grip adds runtime if you need it. There's also a magnetic mount built in — which sounds like a small thing until you're on a run-and-gun shoot and you're sticking it to the side of a car door instead of fumbling for a clamp.
The two versions differ mainly in range: the Bi covers 2800K–6500K, the R stretches to 1800K–10000K with 14 FX modes instead of 11. Both score around CRI 96 / TLCI 96, so colors don't need much fixing in post. Control is via on-board buttons, Bluetooth through the Godox Light App, or NFC for fast pairing.
