Description
The DJI Osmo Pocket 4 is a palm-sized gimbal camera built for creators who want genuinely good footage without hauling a big rig around. It shoots 4K at up to 240fps, packs a 1-inch sensor with 14 stops of dynamic range, and stores everything on 107GB of built-in storage — so you're not hunting for a memory card when the moment happens.
The three-axis mechanical stabilization is rock solid, and ActiveTrack 7.0 keeps subjects locked even at 4x zoom. A 2x lossless zoom at full 4K resolution means you can actually compose a shot instead of just cropping it in post. Battery life lands around 2.5 hours at 4K — enough for a full day out if you're not rolling constantly.
It's not perfect. You still can't do 4K in portrait without rotating the camera. There's no optical zoom. But for what it is — something that fits in your pocket and produces footage that'd be respectable on a much larger camera — it's hard to argue with.

Frequently asked questions
Q: What's actually new compared to the Pocket 3? A: The biggest jump is slow motion — 4K at 240fps, double what the Pocket 3 could do. You also get 14 stops of dynamic range (up from 13), 107GB of built-in storage so you're not relying on memory cards, and a 2x lossless zoom at full 4K. Battery life also got a modest bump to about 2.5 hours at 4K.
Q: Can I shoot vertical video for Reels and TikTok? A: Yes, but with a catch. The screen rotates to switch between landscape and portrait, but full 4K in portrait requires physically rotating the camera. In auto-portrait mode, vertical video is capped at 3K. For most social content that's fine, but worth knowing upfront.
Q: Do I still need to carry memory cards? A: No. The Pocket 4 has 107GB of built-in storage and transfers footage via USB 3.1 at up to 800MB/s — so offloading to a laptop is fast. You can also transfer wirelessly to the DJI Mimo app over Wi-Fi 6 at up to 90MB/s.
Q: How good is the subject tracking for solo shooting? A: ActiveTrack 7.0 is the best version yet. It tracks people, pets, vehicles, and objects at up to 4x zoom — earlier versions fell apart at higher zoom levels. There's also gesture control, so you can start and stop recording hands-free without touching the camera.
Q: Is the footage actually usable for colour grading? A: Yes. The Pocket 4 shoots 10-bit D-Log M, giving you real latitude to grade in post. 14 stops of dynamic range means highlights and shadows hold up well, even in tricky lighting. It's not a cinema camera, but the files are far more workable than what you'd get from a phone.
Q: How long does the battery last during a shoot day? A: Around 2.5 hours at 4K, more if you drop to 1080p. That's roughly 30 minutes longer than the Pocket 3. For a day out it's enough if you're not rolling continuously — though carrying a power bank is still a smart habit for longer shoots.
Q: Does it work with external mics? A: Yes. The Creator Combo includes a DJI Mic 3 transmitter. The built-in mics are decent for run-and-gun, and there's a "Vocal Boost" mode that reduces background noise — useful in noisy environments, though it's not a substitute for a proper lav mic when audio quality matters.
1. 4K/240fps video recording is only supported in Slow Motion mode.
2. In both Normal and D-Log color profiles, the maximum dynamic range reaches 14 stops. In Slow Motion mode, the actual dynamic range may be lower than 14 stops.
3. The 10-bit D-Log color profile is only supported in normal Video mode.
4. 2× lossless zoom is not supported in Low-Light, Slow Motion, or Timelapse modes.
5. Data was tested in a controlled laboratory environment. When using the provided USB-C to USB-C PD Cable (USB 3.1) or another USB 3.1-compliant cable, you can export data from built-in storage at a maximum transfer rate of 800 MB/s.
6. ActiveTrack is not supported in Panorama, Timelapse, Motionlapse, SpinShot modes, or when the gimbal is in FPV mode and the device is held horizontally. For optimal tracking performance, use in well-lit environments. ActiveTrack updates are available via the DJI Mimo app. Please contact DJI Support for details.
7. Four-channel output requires connecting the DJI Mic transmitter. Direct connection to the first-generation DJI Mic is not supported. DJI microphones are sold separately.
8. Subject Lock Tracking and Registered Subject Priority are supported in Video and Photo Pro modes, as well as in Hyperlapse mode. They are not available in Panorama, Timelapse, or Motionlapse modes.
9. Four-channel audio editing requires the DJI Mimo app or other professional video editing software.
