    3. Nissin

    Introduction
Macro photography enthusiasts have something to look forward to — Nissin's entry into the Macro flash category comes in the form of the Nissin MF18 Macro Ring Flash. The Nissin MF18 manages to hold its own against its proprietary counterparts like the Canon MR-14 EX — with two independently controllable flash tubes (named Side A and Side B), and fine lighting control that lets you power down the flash to 1/1024 in steps of 1/6EV, the MF18 is one of the best flashes you can get at the S$400 - S$600+ price range.

The brand new K5 slider from popular Korean brand Konova will be launched in Singapore very soon. Riding on the popularity of earlier K3, C3 sliders, Konova has positioned themselves as a market leader in quality sliders on a budget. The K5 comes with larger rollers and roller bearings than the earlier K3 models while keeping it's new 'spider' legs intact! The 80cm version will be available at Red Dot Photo store very soon.

Standing tall among the torrent of camera releases at CES 2012 is Fujifilm’s latest member of their X series cameras — the X Pro 1. True to the X-series’ distinctive flavour, the X Pro 1 is built like to feel and look like a mechanical rangefinder and outperforms most cameras that share its small form factor.

What’s new is the introduction of the X-mount lenses — the X Pro 1 being the first interchangeable lens digital camera that carries this proprietary system. Fujifilm’s interchangeable lens systems tended to be borrowed, as in the case of their Sx Pro systems that borrowed Nikon’s hardware to house their Super CCD sensors.

Nikon Singapore announces launch of the D4
The D3 was officially retired from its flagship status at Nikon yesterday, when Nikon Singapore finally announced the launch of the Nikon D4. We managed to hold it for a while, giving us little cold shivers of pleasure as we ran our hands over its solid magnesium alloy body and held down the shutter button just to hear the distinctive Nikon "click".

The D4 has all of what you would expect from the successor to the D3s — very good high ISO performance that you can push up to 204800, up to 10 fps continuous shooting with no mirror lock, and an EXPEED 3 processor that lets you plow through CF cards like Joe McNally on steroids.

And we haven’t gotten to the juicy parts yet.
