    Hi,

Is the Strato compatible with different brands of flash?
Assuming I am using a canon mount, I would like to use a variety of nissin, YN and Nikon flash units?

Basically, it's similar to other radio triggers such as the Phottix Tetra, Aster, Atlas, but the major difference is:

The flash mounted onto the transmitter has to be brand specific (ie: if it's a Phottix Strato for Canon, then the flash should be a flash compatible with Canon such as the 580EX II, Nissin flash for Canon, even other 3rd party brands such as Yong Nuo / Brilliant / Tumax flash units. The flash mounted on the transmitter can also be a flash pure manual flash (ie: with ONLY manual functions, with just ONE single pin).

The flash on the receiver can be any brand or type. This flash will not have TTL capabilities.

Just purchase the new Phottix Strato 4 in 1, So excited to try it out.
Test the Shutter release thru wired and wireless and no issue whatsoever.
Try on the flash trigger ( 580 EX II ) mount on camera, ok.
Try to removed the flash from camera ( off camera flash ) and trigger with remote but having over exposed or washout image which seems that the ETTL of 580EX II during off camera dosn't work.
Its my first time on this flash & trigger thingy so decided to explore a bit and read thru the 580EX user manual. Try this and try that but same result of image until I put the off-camera flash mode to "MASTER" setting & eventually correct exposure achieve ( atleast )

Big Q? Is the above setting that i made is correct? That when using 580EX II as off-camera flash, the flash need to change the mode to "MASTER" even if i only use one flash?

I saw the demo video of this item but doesn't show the image result taken after shot.
    Enlghten me plssssssss.......

Hi, apologies for the late reply.

The off camera flash shld be in manual mode. There're no need to set the off camera flash to master or slave!

Lots of function but too bad it doesnt have the bulb mode like Cleon (if im not wrong)
It will be quite tiring to hold the shutter release button for a minute. Btw, if the camera mode is set to continuous shooting, will it be able to take continuos shots wirelessly as long as the button is pressed ? Also does it work for bulb mode, ie: have to hold the shutter button for as long as the user wants ?
    Thanks

Hi....I had strato for sometimes.....but only recently I tried using it to shoot flight shots of Sunbirds wirelessly but it just refused to work with my high speed burst shots....instead only one shot at a time ? So can strato can't work with high speed burst shot is it wirelessly ??? I tried wired type without any problem at all !!!

it doesnt work wirelessly for cont shots and bulb mode. For those 2 modes, u will need to wired the strato.
Why do u want to shoot wirelessly anyway ? Unless you really know where you are aiming or perhaps using one of those wireless viewfinder lcd, I think will be quite tricky to shoot birds wirelessly

Yeah...I know where I'm aiming at...basically if the birds hovering....I know the exact place to aim....while I think Strato should work wirelessly with Cont Shots since it competitors had already achieved that !!!

    I'm using Nikon D300s.

If i use the TTL pass thru on Strato and trigger other flashes in manual mode...

can I shoot at the camera flash sync speed (above 1/250s - Auto FP) without any banding?

  15. #15
    Sorry for the late reply.

The flash with TTL should get the high sync speed, but the other flashes in manual mode won't be able to sync faster than 1/250
