Olympus OM-D Launch

Original Olympus OM-1 D via Wikimedia Commons., a classic film camera using Olympus' OM mount.
Olympus has been dropping hints over the past week about the launch of a new camera system, rumoured to be a refresh of the original 40-year-old OM system. Their cheeky OMG teaser and the Olympus Website don’t mention any specifics, but we are expecting a large sensor mirrorless system that would compete at the DSLR range -- since Olympus already has the Olympus PEN series covering the mouthful that is the compact micro-four-thirds interchangeable lens market, making it unlikely that they make such an own-goal -- similar to the newer Sony alphas.
43rumours is paying particular attention to the OM-D, which may indicate that the OM might be using the micro-four-thirds lens mount. But fanboys can hope that the revival of the OM badge would mean a new range of OM lenses and a return to the widely revered OM standard, but that may be just wishful thinking.
Red Dot Photo is headed for the Olympus Imaging Singapore product launch 2 weeks down the road. Do watch this space for updates!

OMD camera and lense from Olympus
Certainly something to follow up after the runaway success with the Olympus EP3.
This would be in a price range similar to the Fuji X1 Pro series. Looks wise, the retro-ness of the system will definitely draw it's fair share of supporters!

Can't say anything about the price being the same as the XPro1, because I'm thinking that Olympus wouldn't want to cannibalize the sales from their own PEN series. All we know is that it is highly likely to carry on using the M4/3 system, judging from a recent lens release. But you never know
We'll find out on the 8th.
