Marumi Filters - Quality Made in Japan

Established in 1952, Marumi is one of the world's oldest optics companies, with experience in all steps of production from manufacturing, to final assembly, to marketing. Material processing and glass polishing are all conducted in-house, producing some of the highest quality products in the world today.
Red Dot Photo received samples of two of Marumi's popular DHG (Digital High Grade) filters for review. DHG filters are designed to minimise lens' inner reflection, flare, and ghosting. Digital sensors are more susceptible to such problems, and Marumi filters have special coatings applied to minimise these issues. The outer rim of the filter glass is painted black to further minimise inner reflections. The black satin-finish filter frame is well-built and minimises extra reflection as well.

DHG Lens Protect

Designed as a protective filter, the DHG Lens Protect optimises the performance of lenses for digital imaging.

With its slim frame, vignetting is avoided even when taking photos with wide-angle lenses. The filter's DHG coating ensures that your lens is always at its peak performance, ready to capture the moment.

DHG Circular Polariser

As with other products in the DHG line, the DHG CPL features DHG coatings, making it ideal for digital cameras. By filtering out the polarised component of skylight, landscape photographs can be made to have bluer and more dramatic skies. Outdoor scens are rendered more cripsly, with deeper colour tones in the skies, bodies of water, and foliage. Polarisers can also be used to suppres reflections, enabling users to shoot through glass and into water.

DHG CPLs are slim mount and allow the use of lens caps, making them convenient to use.
