A 2011 8 megapixel camera! The key components of a camera: the sensor, shutter, aperture ring, and a whole bunch of electronics. Here the Iphone 4S was ripped apart by the folks at Ifixit, with detail images of the camera taken by the folks at Chipworks.


The crux of the 8 megapixel, 1080 30p full HD recording, Iphone 4S! The experts at Chipworks.com used an Infrared microscope to peer through the layers of Silicon to reveal the heart of the camera, the camera itself, with clear markings 'Sony'!

For a f/2.4 lens, it's not bad. Waiting for a day a larger sensor gets inserted into a mobile phone and seriously compete with compact digital cameras which has dominated the 'low end' section for the past 15 years!!
