Chanced upon this page while browsing the net. Makes me wonder if point-and-shoots are really necessary today!

Seems like if you've got a suitably high-end smartphone (not just the iPhone), compact cameras aren't going to give you any improvements in quality for casual shots.

For anything else though, you can't beat larger sensors =)
