Sony has launched the world's first digital binoculars that also record Full HD Video with stereo sound at the touch of a button, the DEV-5 and DEV-5K! Capable of both 2D and 3D video-capture, these binoculars are a marriage of video capabilities and powerful optics.

    Key features are:
    • Full HD (1920 x 1080) video recording with stereo sound
    • Up to 20x magnification
    • Steadyshot Active Mode optical image stabilisation for clear viewing and recording
    • Minimal 'stealth' design with ergonomic controls
    • HDMI connection to HDTV, 3D TV, or professional 3D monitors
    • Geotagging with GPS
Unlike traditional binoculars, electronic autofocus keeps your subject sharply resolved at all times, even while it's moving. A comfortably positioned dial also allows fingertip adjustment of manual focus. Image quality is ensured with precision G Lens optics by SOny with Exmor R CMOS sensors and powerful BIONZ image processors. Independent electronic viewfinders provide clear, detailed images for left and right eyes, offering a 3D viewing experience that's comfortable, natural, and highly immersive. An onboard GPS receiver automatically geotags video clips as you are on the move.

The DEV-5 comes with a rechargeable battery pack that allows up to approximately 3 hours of 2D recording on a single charge, while the DEV-5K comes with a high-capacity battery pack enabling approximately 6 hours of recording on a single charge.

The new DEV-5 and DEV-5K digital recordable binoculars from Sony will be available from November 2011, and are priced at S$2,599 and S$3,080 respectively.
