How to Create Your Own Photo Albums and Use Them in Posts/Threads

    Hi everyone!

    Introduction to Albums

A little known feature of our forums is the ability to create your very own albums containing your photographs.

This feature can be used to gather your photos all in one place, and even designate an album as your very own portfolio!

Another use is to upload photos into an album for a single event that you can distribute to your friends! For example, if you had just attended the Formula Drift 2010, you could upload these photos into a Formula Drift album of your own and share that with your friends.

These photos can also be used and linked back to posts or threads that you create right here in our forums.

This would be similar to PhotoBucket, Flickr or other online photo sharing sites, except that you could do it all in one place at Red Dot Photo Forums! No need for logins to multiple sites; do it all right here.

In addition, your photos will get featured at the top of our forum's listing pages!

Want to learn how to get started? Read on!

    How to Use Albums

    1. Click on "My Profile" at the very top right hand corner of the page

    2. In the left hand sidebar, look for "Albums" and click on "Add Album"

    3. Type in a title and description and click "Save Changes"

    4. Click on "Upload Pictures" at the top right.

    5. In the pop-up dialog box that appears, click on Add Files, and then Select Files and then find the files you want to upload from your computer. Once done, click on on Upload Files.

    6. Once that is completed, you will see your files appearing in the bottom pane under "Attachments". Click on Insert Attachment.

    7. You will be brought back to the main window after the dialog box closes. You can edit the names of each photo if you wish. Once you are done, click on Save Changes at the bottom left hand corner.

    8. Tada you are done!!

Using your Album Pictures in Forum Threads/Posts

In order to link this photo back into a post or thread, click on the photo in your album that you want to link, and find the BB Code field at the bottom right. You can copy and paste the BB Code directly into a forum post/thread and your photo will appear.

Sharing Your Album with your Friends

To share a specific photo with your friends, use the Picture URL box in the above photo rather than the BB Code box.

To share an entire album with your friends, it is as easy as simply copying the link to that album.

For example, this link show my Formula Drift 2010 album:
    http://www.reddotphoto.com.sg/forums....php?albumid=2

That's how easy it is to create your own albums, use them in forum threads and posts, and share them with your friends!!

Another great reason to share your photos via the albums function is that they will get featured right on the front page of the forums:
