    Runway Fashion shoot. Do I need Permission to Shoot or Post Pics on Blogs?

    Someone in another forum ask this question:

    ======================================

    hi guys,

    1.)For Runway Fashion shoot. Do i need permission to shoot or post pics on blogs?
    2.)Will providing credits section mentioning the runway organiser enough?
    3.)Do i need permission if i'm selling the photos i took from the runway fashion show?

    In this scenario, it is an open event and nobody including organiser is stopping whomever to take pics.
    ======================================

    I quite confused leh, some people there say must get permission, some say no need, some say the first guy is wrong etc etc; until I think no one can tell what the answer is anymore!

    Anyone knows?

    You need permission from everyone; no free lunch:

    - permission from event organiser
    - permission from clothing sponsor
    - permission to use the pictures taken
    - permission if you want to sell

    You think your grandfather's house, can just go and take photo anyhow? Go read IPOS if you donno. Better be safe, not sorry!

    It is a matter of being clear about taking the photograph(s) and the intended purpose (e.g. usage) of the photographs. If make $ out of it, most probably require permission.

    For IPOS it not really clear when it comes to photographer and photographs.

    Something to think about... the Merlion symbol is a trademark.

    Actually, I think a lot of people in Singapore are quite "kiasu"; so they tend to err on the side of caution even though there is little or no legal risks involved.

    Even in the ClubSnap thread, there are people who don't really know what they are saying, and when challenged by others, they say "you want to believe then believe, dont believe then you die your business, I just play safe". More often than not, these people don't have a real legal basis for saying things, but prefer to adopt the most kiasu attitude. It may sometimes be to their own detriment as they end up having to worry over things or getting this and that, when in fact, none needs to be gotten!
