Strobist Alert: YongNuo 565 with wireless TTL capabilities

The rumours are true.

YongNuo is currently making a speedlight capable of supporting Canon or Nikon wireless flash system. It'll called the YN565. Estimated prices USD180.

Some specifications at the moment.

Supports Canon/Nikon wirelsss flash system at the same time: 580EX II, SB-900/800/700, 7D/60D commander mode, Nikon C commander mode and Canon ST-E2 Wireless TTL system

The YongNuo YN565 if it's at USD, will only be SGD240, that's a steal comparing to the Nissin Di622/Di866 and obviously the original Canon 580EXII speedligh and Nikon SB700 and SB900 speedlights.

I wonder if the reliability of YongNuo TTL is good, their manual flashes seems pretty reliable though.

The preview of the Yong Nuo 565 TTL flash with wireless capabilities.


It'll have the same power as the Canon 580EXII at a GN of 58. The built is the same as the Canon 580EXII.


The buttons and layout are identical to the YongNuo 560


A key feature of this flash is the capability to be triggered by both Canon and Nikon wireless systems with TTL. Hence a photographer with a Canon system (for eg, 60D) and another photography with a Nikon system (D300s), both will be able to trigger the same flash! (by selecting the same group/channel)

Wondering, will the PW TT1/TT5 able to TTL this flash?

We're not sure if YongNuo YN-565EX is compatible with Pocket Wizard TT1/TT5 as it just came in. We believe the YongNuo YN-565EX should be compatible as its functions are similar to Canon 580EX II.
