Sony Introduces New Cyber-Shot Digital Still Cameras That Make It Easy to Get The Best Shot

New models offer consumers advanced digital imaging features at affordable price points

Sony Electronics Asia Pacific today announced new models in its S and W-series Cyber-shot lines, including models DSC-S3000, DSC-W510, DSC-W520, DSC-W530, and DSC-W570 – some of its most affordable full-featured point-and-shoot cameras to-date.

The all new W-series models feature Sweep Panorama mode, plus a bevy of Sony innovations including SteadyShot™ image stabilisation that reduces blur, iAuto™ mode that automatically optimises camera settings plus Face Detection™ and Smile Shutter™, which makes it easy and affordable to get the best shot.

Sony also introduced a fresh, sleek addition to its world-class full touch-screen T-series cameras (model DSC-T110) that combines the must-have design factor with all the cutting-edge features and in-crowd demands. Starting with the entry-level 16.1-megapixel DSC-T110 offering a CCD sensor, the T-models feature a three-inch LCD with touch-screen, Sweep Panorama, and 720p HD movie capture.

Sony also introduces a new 10x optical zoom Cyber-shot camera (model DSC-H70). With a 16.1-megapixel CCD sensor, the camera features innovative Sweep Panorama™ technology, 720p HD movie recording, Optical SteadyShot® with Active mode which drastically reduces the camera shake, and a 25mm wide lens to easily capture family portrait shots.



Innovative Sweep Panorama™ Technology

Sweep Panorama mode, first introduced in Sony’s breakthrough Cyber-shot DSC-HX1, DSC-TX1 and DSC-WX1 CMOS models, utilises a CCD sensor to capture dramatic panoramic scenes. Starting with the DSC-S3000 and continuing up throughout all Cyber-shot cameras, these models shoot images continuously to capture wide landscapes or tall buildings in one easy “press and sweep” motion. They automatically stitch the images together to create one stunning panoramic photo.

Another way that these cameras make it easy to get the best shot is through the built-in help guide. Designed to help users learn about the cameras’ features and figure out how to use them on the spot, the “In-Camera Guide” is accessible from the menu button on the camera. Users can search by purpose or keyword and easily access the functions they seek.

The new Cyber-shot cameras will be available in Asia Pacific from March 2011.
