New Year Eve Countdown 2011 from MBS

#1 Fireworks light up the Marina Bay in the countdown celebrations to 2011.

#2 A few shoots of fireworks before the smoke dampens the rest of the 7 minutes of fireworks.

    #3

#4 The Helix bridge and busy traffic on the Bayfront bridge taken in long exposure reveals an interesting picture.

    #5

#6 The space ship has landed!

#7 The sunset light cast a yellow glow on the facet of the hotels.

#8 Waves pattern on the Marina Bay Sands shoppes rooftop.

#9 The MBS Expo and Convention Centre together with the Shoppes forms a nice foreground to the new downtown skyline in sunset skies. Picture composed by High-Dynamic Range (HDR) technique.

#10 The last sunset of 2010 in Singapore... Good bye!

#3...if opened shutter ~1second earlier..the bursts will be more complete.

    #9. HDR overdone lah

#10, v interesting reds to orange from the left, then suddenly goes to green and blue on the right.. though I'd suggest cropping the window pane and the bottom out..and straighten the pircture a bit..as the buildings look convergent. One 'guideline' in landscape portraiture = Parallel lines should never converge!

Edited picture with perspective of buildings corrected.

For the comment on #10, I believe what Toffee Bread means isn't so much that all parallel lines cannot converge in any landscape picture; but specifically, buildings should appear to be standing straight, and not tilted backwards.

The converging lines of the buildings (ie a building looks like an inverted V rather than a H) gives the perception that the building is leaning backwards. Hence it should be corrected (either using tilt-shift lens or photoshop) back so that the buildings look straight.

I personally like the spaceship shot; except for the lamppost. Also the shot immediately after that to me, spoils the impact as a zoomed-out pic doesn't seem as impactful as the original; having the spaceship shot alone gives much greater impact!
