It continues to use the same Electronic Viewfinder as the A55 that may turn off some users, but in exchange the Sony A57's Single Translucent Lens system allows its users to shoot at a higher frame-rate than typical DSLRs and allows quick autofocusing even when shooting continuously or in video mode. The A57 also incorporates several in-camera image processing enhancements such as Sony's Clear Image Zoom technology that, according to Sony, uses an algorithm that allows up to 2x zoom on images with minimal loss of image quality.

Sony SAL500F40G 500mm A-Mount Telephoto Lens

Sony launched the Sony SAL500F40G 500mm A-Mount Telephoto Lens yesterday -- the latest addition to their G lens range. The lens is the longest G lens released to-date, and can be paired with an APSC A-Mount camera and a 1.4x SAL14TC Teleconverter to give you a 1050mm (35mm equivalent) focal length at f/8 with autofocus, according to Sony.

The Sony SAL500F40G 500mm telephoto is designed with interlocking weather seals that keep dust and moisture out of the lens, making it a perfect complement to the weather sealed Sony SLT-A77 (α77).

For some years now, Sony has watched from the sidelines as Canon and Nikon have duked it out in the high-end APS-C market with the 7D and D7000 respectively. Now, Sony re-enters the ring with a new contender, the Sony Alpha SLT-A77. The only SLT in the high-end APS-C market, it uses an electronic rather than optical viewfinder, and brings to the table a new 24MP sensor, an extremely high-resolution (2.4M dot OLED) viewfinder, a new 19-point AF sensor and, most impressively, 12fps full-resolution shooting.
