H264 is not a editing friendly encoding, one might need a Octo Core Mac Pro to do real time single layer editing. With the help of GPU, normal Core 2 system is able to get the work done. 11. What is a good starting lens for videography using the Canon 7D?

I just bought the Canon 7D mainly for videography. There seem to be millions of lens' out there. Since the 7D is already pretty expensive, my budget for a lens is about 200-300. I would like a lens with great zooming capability, very wide shots and of course, crystal clear image. Any suggestions?
