The differences between Nissin Di866 and Di866 Mark II include: Mount: Mark I has a plastic mount while mark II has a metal mount. Sound of zooming: Mark II zooming of the flash head is softer than the Mark I. Sub-flash power. Mark II sub-flash power is able to go to 1/32 while the Mark I's can go to 1/16.
Canon 500D be used wirelessly with the Nissin Di466 with the Nissin Di466 in digital slave mode. Hence line of sight is needed and the pop-up flash of the Canon 500D has to be activated. One can dial down the flash intensity of the pop-up flash to say -2EV if the direct flash from the pop-up flash is not intended. Note that the Nissin Di466 for Canon is current's not compatible with radio flash triggers such as Phottix Strato and Pocket Wizard.
Nissin digital has released information that Nissin speedlight across all models (Nissin Di466, Di622, Di622 Mark 2, Di866, Di866 Mark II) are not compatible with high voltage 1.6V Nickel Zinc (NiZn) batteries.

Anyone using 60D? I cant get the Di866 to fire on its own. My in-built flash will fire together even when my camera settings are set to fire only external flash. Anyone using 60D has the same problem as well?

Test (Using Canon system) Di866 on camera, in Wireless mode, Master, Channel 1, Group A, TTL M set to 'NA'' Di622 Mark II, set to wireless TTL salve mode, Channel 1, Group A by default. Di866 will trigger a flicker of flash for the IR/TTL signals to reach the slave flash etc. This 'TTL pre-flash' wlill not affect the overall exposure of the image.

Only the Di866 can do high speed sync in both wired and wireless modes. Depending on the camera, the Di622 for Nikon should be able to do up to 1/250.
I've just bought 3 units of Phottix Atlas. I am now looking at the Nissin Di622 flash. Will this units work together? :confused: The Nissin Website State the Nissin is only for digital camera. And The Phottix Manual stated that the Atlas may not work with Nissin Flash. I know the Atlas flash hotshoe trigger is only for single pin. Please Advise. Thank you

Currently, only Nissin flash purchased with local warranty will be able to get free updates of the flash's firmware. Grey sets from overseas or from non-authorised retailers will not be entertained at Nissin Service Center in Singapore.
The are generally 3 ways to trigger an off-shoe flash Wireless TTL method Via Canon 60D, 7D, (or ST-E2) will be able to trigger a Nissin Di866 for Canon or a Nissin Di622 Mark 2. hi, on sunday when i am using the di866 flash on my 50d, i can hear some sound coming out of the flash, but working okay. i took out the battery, put back again, unmount the flash and mount the flash again, the sound still persist. i cannot describe the sound, and when i shake the flash i can hear some rumbling noise. please help to advise what could be wrong with it.

The above is not compatible. The Nissin Di866 for Canon is compatible with the Canon 5D2 though Compatibility chart found here
So far, only the Di466 for four-thirds (4/3s) can be triggered using radio triggers such as the YongNuo RF602 and various Phottix triggers. The Nissin Di466 for Canon and Nikon has yet to have the firmware upgraded and hence those units won't be able to trigger with radio triggers at the moment.
