The first ever Youth Olympics Games will open at the iconic Marina Bay platform in Singapore on 14 August 2010. Shrouded in secrecy, the opening schedule promises to have a wide array of big acts.
The idea of an Olympics Games for youths was mooted in 2001 by the International Olympics Committee. In 2007, Moscow and Singapore bidded to be the first ever host and Singapore emerged victorious in the bid. In a few days, more than 3000 athletes from more than 170 countires will descend on the island to battle out in their respective sports. On the Opening, 2 billion pairs of eyes are expected to be tuning in onto the opening!!
With large sets, grand entrances, spectacular pyrotechnics, the YOG opening will create a global impact for Singapore.
