Singapore, 23 April 2010 – Come tomorrow, engines will roar and rubber will burn as the third edition of the Formula Drift Singapore 2010 Powered by Nissan returns to Singapore on 24 and 25 April 2010.

Organized by ESPN STAR Sports’ (ESS) Event Management Group and powered by Nissan, the drifting competition will be held at the F1 Pit Building, home of the world’s first Formula One night race and the Singapore GP. The competition promises to be bigger and better, with a record showing of 42 drivers from Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, China, Hong Kong, Japan and New Zealand exhibiting their motoring prowess from Turns 1 to 3.

Spectators are in for a treat as Ryuji Miki, Japanese Champion and Top Formula DRIFT USA Pro, will be competing in Singapore for the second time since his win in 2008, and will also kick start his season here. He arrived earlier this week to conduct a clinic with a number of drivers, and looks forward to the competition this weekend. “This event marks my return to Singapore and I am definitely keen to see what the other drivers will be bringing to the table. The Formula Drift Singapore 2010 Powered by Nissan will be my first race of the season so I hope to start it off with a bang! I’ve also been tracking the growth and development of the sport in Singapore and the level of competition this weekend will be a challenge indeed.”

Representing Singapore are Ivan Lim, Jansen Tan, Adam Toh, Shah Yusoff, Lim Chien Wei, Jason Tan and Winston Ang. Malaysia’s Tengku Djan will also be returning to defend his title, while the only female driver Jane Cheah, also from Malaysia, will be here for her second Formula DRIFT Singapore. This year, spectators can also keep an eye out for the competition’s youngest driver, Thailand’s Chanapol Kerdpiam who just turned 17 this year.

ESS expects yet another weekend of great motoring fun for the public with Mr. Harvey Davis, Vice-President of ESS Events Management Group saying, “We expect a thrilling event as we have a very talented line-up of drifters and we look forward to more riveting action as the top 42 drivers compete for the title.

As event organizers for the second time, we are pleased to play a significant part in the growth of the sport both locally and regionally. Thousands of spectators will be able to enjoy the sport on ground in Singapore while we will be showing it on our networks to over 300 million viewers across 24 countries.”

General Manager of DriftPac and Technical Consultant for the Formula Drift Singapore 2010 Powered by Nissan, Mr. Marcus Lim, expressed his excitement for the event that he brought in for the first time in 2008, saying, “It is definitely wonderful to see the growth and development of this sport in Singapore, and it’s especially encouraging for the motoring community to see the passion and interest that Singaporeans have in the sport ever since its inaugural introduction three years ago. I look forward to many more competitions as such these, and especially to the spectacle that the drivers have planned for us this weekend!”

Tickets will be available at the main entrance, with Walkabout tickets going for $30 and Grandstand tickets at $50. For more information, please go to the official website at http://www.formuladrift.com.sg/
