Chingay 2011, the annual dazzling extravaganza of colours and cultural diversity is just 1 day away from us! With parades happening on 11th and 12th February, viewers would be treated to a thrilling feast of performances and presentations that would not fail to impress.

- Parade Day One: 11 Feruary 2011, Friday, 8.30PM at Pit Building (Guest of Honor: PM Lee Hsien Loong)
- Parade Day Two: 12 February 2011, Saturday, 8.00PM at Pit Building (Guest of Honor: President S R Nathan)

What are the highlights for Chingay this year?
This year’s parade consists of 7 segments, with an impressive presentation of dances, performances and costumes in each. Brief highlights of the each of the segments is as follows:
- Segment One: 88 metre long dragons in the sky from China and firecracker dragons with firecrackers entwined on their bodies
- Segment Two: Singapore’s first Indian Flower Towers and presentation of Chinese Cultures
- Segment Three: Imaginative Animal Kingdom
- Segment Four: Exotic Performances from China, Denmark, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Taiwan
- Segment Five: National Travelling Dance Competition
- Segment Six: Biggest Presentation of Malay Cultural Contingent
- Segment Seven: Hip Hop Dance performance by 2000 youths, Passing on the Lamp ceremony and the release of 4,000 sky lanterns
Chingay 2011 will be bursting of opportunities for photographers to take advantage of. In particular, photographers can take note of the following:
- Segment presentations, floats, contingents, and performances
- 88m long flying dragons from China (will rise 40m above ground)
- Spreading of Red Cloth across performing grounds during grand finale
- Hoisting of Gaint Scroll of Calligraphy bearing words "传灯“ (passing on the light), written by President Nathan behind spectator stand
- Releasing of sky lanterns during grand finale
- Arts and Cultural Carnival at Arts Street, with exhibitions, art installations, cosplayers, magicians, balloonists, roving performances and percussionists
